The International Contemporary Art Fair, ARCOmadrid 2025, will celebrate its 44th edition from March 5 to 9 at IFEMA Madrid. This year, the fair will bring together 214 galleries from 36 countries, consolidating itself as a benchmark on the international art scene.

One of the highlights of this edition is the section “Wametisé: ideas for an amazofuturism”, which explores new forms of creation that represent hybrid existences between human, vegetal, physical and metaphysical bodies. This central project will be dedicated to the Amazon, reflecting the growing relevance of indigenous Amazonian art in the international circuit.

Below, we present ten world-renowned artists who will be present at ARCOmadrid 2025, whose works you cannot miss:

1. Jaume Plensa

The Spanish sculptor Jaume Plensa returns to ARCO after seventeen years. His work “Between dreams V3.0” presents eight alabaster heads that symbolize diversity and miscegenation, addressing contemporary themes such as migration and tragedy. Plensa uses art to denounce intolerance and the destruction of communities, offering a more human and hopeful vision of the future.

2. Juan Uslé

The Spanish painter Juan Uslé is a reference in contemporary abstract art. His work is characterized by the innovative use of color and light, with compositions based on juxtaposed layers and geometric shapes. He has exhibited in prestigious museums such as the Guggenheim in New York and the Reina Sofía Museum in Madrid. ​

   

3. Katja Strunz

German artist Katja Strunz stands out for her sculptures and installations that explore the relationship between architecture and memory. His work has been exhibited at the Venice Biennale and Documenta 13 in Kassel. With a conceptual approach, it transforms space with structures that evoke the passage of time and history. ​

4. Liliana Porter

Argentine artist Liliana Porter has built an international career exploring identity and memory through photography, video and installation. His work has been exhibited at the MoMA in New York and the Reina Sofía Museum in Madrid. In 2013, he received the Konex Platinum Award for his career.​

5. Amy Vogel

American artist Amy Vogel explores the effects of change and transformation on the body and nature in her work. His work focuses on entropy and impermanence through drawings of erasure and stains, challenging the stability of the image. ​

6. Iñigo Navarro

The figurative artist Iñigo Navarro explores the relationship between human beings and the world through performative painting, where action and intervention are part of creation. His work, highly philosophical, analyzes experience and memory, becoming an innovative proposal in the current artistic scene.

7. Rember Yahuarcani

The Peruvian artist Rember Yahuarcani, from the Uitoto people, is one of the protagonists of the rise of Amazonian indigenous art. His work addresses history, anthropology and ancestral myths, providing an authentic voice and dignifying Amazonian cultures.

8. Carlos Jacanamijoy

Colombian artist Carlos Jacanamijoy, of indigenous Inga origin, is known for his colorful paintings that reflect the worldview of his culture. His work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Museo del Barrio in New York. ​

9. Claudia Andujar

Brazilian photographer and activist Claudia Andujar has dedicated much of her career to documenting and protecting the indigenous peoples of the Amazon, especially the Yanomami community. Her work combines art and activism, raising awareness about the importance of preserving these cultures and their environment.

10. Etel Adnan

Lebanese artist and poet Etel Adnan is recognized for her vibrant abstract landscapes and her exploration of the relationship between color and form. His work has been exhibited in important institutions such as MoMA and Documenta in Kassel. ​

In addition to the artistic wealth, ARCOmadrid 2025 will have a series of awards that recognize creativity and innovation in contemporary art. Among them are the XX ARCO/BEEP Prize for Electronic Art, the XVIII illy SustainArt Prize and the IX Cervezas Alhambra Arte Emergente Prize, which seek to promote the production of new creations and value the works on display. ​The fair will also offer spaces dedicated to young and innovative galleries, such as the “Opening. New galleries” section, which represents the commitment to young national and international gallery art.
